Wearable for midlife health: a health band without a screen
A wearable for midlife health is less about a new training score and more about noticing what is usual for you now. Sleep can shift. Recovery can take longer than it used to. Blood tests, medications and meals start to matter in the same week as a walk. The Thrive Health Band is a health band without a screen, built to hold that picture together.
A health band without a screen
A health band without a screen does not put a display on your wrist. There is no watch face lighting up at 2am, and no notifications on your arm. The band records supported readings. The Thrive by Optihealth app, on iPhone or Android, and My Health on the web are where you read them.
That is a different job from a fitness tracker you glance at during a run. If you want the fitness-tracker explanation, battery and water notes in that form, see how a screenless fitness tracker works. This page stays with midlife health: sleep, recovery, and the records you already keep.
The band is IP68, and it is also rated 5 ATM, so you can shower and swim with it. Battery life is up to 14 days between charges. A charge takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
What sits in the midlife picture
Thrive learns what is usual for you as consistent information builds. Your baseline starts as Emerging and can become Established once there is enough of your own data. Recovery insights include an estimated time to get back to baseline, so a poorer night has a time attached, not only a colour.
- Sleep. Duration and stages are there in the morning. How many hours adults are often advised to get, by age, is a different question: see how much sleep adults need.
- Heart trends. Heart rate and heart rate variability come from the optical sensor. They are patterns, not a diagnosis.
- Blood pressure. Cuffless estimates and trends, about every 10 minutes while you wear the band. They need calibration before they begin, and recalibration is recommended every 21 days. They are not a diagnosis, and they are not the same as a cuff reading.
- Records you add. Blood tests, medical history, medications and supplements, and meals through Food Fit. Women's Health in the app is for self-reported tracking. It does not diagnose or prescribe.
If the question is specifically perimenopause, sleep and mood before a GP visit, that article is perimenopause, sleep and mood patterns. This page does not replace it. Ask Thrive can help you put your own week into everyday language before an appointment. It points to patterns and associations. It does not prove a cause, and it does not replace your GP.
Thrive does not sync to Apple Health. Sleep, recovery, meals and the records you keep stay in the app and in My Health on the web.
What it costs in Australia
The band is never sold on its own. The price is A$660 for the band and 12 months of the plan, paid upfront. That 12 months includes the Thrive by Optihealth app, My Health on the web, Ask Thrive and Thrive Loops. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST. Free Australia-wide shipping (usually A$14.99) under the current launch offer.
You keep the band. The A$660 purchase does not renew automatically. After those 12 months you can:
- Keep the band and pay A$240 for another year of the plan (A$20 a month). Over 24 months that is A$900.
- Keep the band and pay A$29 a month, month to month, with no lock-in. Twelve months at that rate is A$348, so the 24-month total is A$1,008. The monthly plan bills each month until you cancel.
- Or pay A$800 upfront for the band and 24 months of connected access. That is a separate Thrive Complete option, not the A$660 price plus a renewal.
